Vinalium El Palo
Your neighbourhood wine shop — unpretentious, well-priced, and run by someone who genuinely loves talking about wine

Tucked into the heart of El Palo — the beachfront neighbourhood in Málaga Este with its fishing village roots still intact — this Vinalium outpost is a different beast from its Soho sibling. Smaller, quieter, and firmly embedded in the rhythms of the local community rather than the city’s cultural quarter.
The range is more focused: a solid selection of reds, whites and sparkling from the main Spanish regions, a handful of international bottles, and a fridge for chilled whites and sparkling. What’s surprising is the depth at the top end — alongside everyday drinking bottles you’ll find some genuinely iconic Spanish wines, which speaks to a clientele that knows what it wants.
The owner is the shop’s biggest asset. Knowledgeable about his own selection but equally happy to discuss wines he doesn’t stock — a rare quality in a small independent. Prices are fair and consistent with the chain, making it a notably better option than the local supermarket for anyone who wants to drink well without travelling into the city centre. The shop is too small to run tasting events, but as a reliable neighbourhood stop, it more than earns its place.
